The Temple Sinai Adult Choir is a volunteer choir open to all and sings during the High Holiday services and in numerous Friday night services throughout the year.
In addition to services, the choir has offered full-length concerts featuring many different types of Jewish music and has proudly represented Temple Sinai in many community festivals, collaborations, and local events. These include appearances at the New England Jewish Choral Festival, concerts with members of The Voice of the Turtle, the Bristol Chamber Orchestra, Safam, collaborations with the Sharon Community Chorus, Temple Emanuel of Newton, and numerous synagogues and churches in Sharon.
During 2001-02, the choir participated with the Messiah Baptist Church in Brockton in the Faith Partners Program. Nine months in scope, this exciting program sponsored by the American Composers Forum and by Temple Sinai brought a local composer to two neighboring congregations of different faiths to write new music for their combined services. Composer Geoff Hudson wrote 3 new pieces that were sung by the adult and childrens choirs of both congregations for services that took place in Brockton and in Sharon in March of 2002. The congregations came together the following year as well.
The Adult Choir numbers around 25 singers, is non-auditioned, and meets on Tuesday nights for rehearsals. Please contact the synagogue or Director Carol Marton (617) 983-1764 for further information.
