Shabbat

Temple Sinai welcomes everyone to join us in celebrating Shabbat.

Shabbat services are held:

Friday evenings at 7:30 pm
Saturday mornings at 10:00 am  (Sept-June)

We offer several types of services to suit our variety of congregants' needs.

Shabbat b'Simcha is a fun service for young and old. Geared especially towards families with school-age children, it is usually held the 1st Friday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Joining the Cantor is the b'Simcha band to further add to the festive spirit of the evening.

Tot Shabbat Services are generally held on the 1st Friday of the month at 6:00 p.m. This 30-45 minute service introduces young children to praying in the sanctuary and the meaning of Shabbat.

"Shabbat in the Round" is a Saturday morning service held when there is no Bar/Bat Mitzvah scheduled. It is a warm, traditional service that includes Torah reading, but also encourages participation, including sharing in the leading of the service and asking service-related questions.

Torah Study

On Shabbat morning, we gather to read the Torah from beginning to end. Rather than read the portion of the week, we are currenly going through the Torah slowly, verse by verse. During the summer months, however, we choose a different book from later in the Hebrew Bible as an object of special study.

All are welcome - novices with no Jewish knowledge and experts alike. We meet at 8:30 a.m. Bagels & coffee are available.
