"Justice, justice, shall you pursue, that you may live."   (Deuteronomy 16:20)

Giving

The Jewish value of giving, whether financially (tzedakah), through acts of loving kindness (gemilut hasadim), or social action (tikun olam) urges us to action.  Whether you donate to one of Temple Sinai's many funds, volunteer your time, or help to repair the world through social action, your contribution is valued and appreciated.

Below are some of the many charities Temple Sinai supports through our educational and social action programs.

How You Can Help
Supports the vital and heroic work of Magen David Adom in Israel (MDA). MDA, and its team of trained volunteer and professional medical responders, provides the entire nation’s pre-hospital emergency medical needs, including medical, disaster, ambulance and blood services.
Works together to care for people in need, to preserve Jewish learning and to enrich Jewish culture worldwide.
Partners with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organic coffees, teas, chocolates and snacks from farmers all over the world, including here in the United States.
ARZA/WORLD UNION North America needs your support to help promote the values and ideals of Reform Judaism throughout the world.
Enriches the lives of children, their families, and adults with disabilities, by establishing and supporting one to one friendships with professionally matched caring adult volunteers.
Our "Housing First" initiative works toward preventing and ultimately ending homelessness by creating housing opportunities.
Gives hope, strength and joy by granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
MAZON allocates donations from the Jewish community to prevent and alleviate hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Based in Los Angeles, it's mission is to raise money for Soup Kitchens in Israel.
Provides urgently needed pediatric heart surgery and follow-up care for children from third world and developing countries.
The Save Darfur coalition's mission is to raise public awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur and to mobilize a unified response to the atrocities that threaten the lives of two million people in the Darfur region.
A non-profit disaster relief program administered by the Rotary Clubs of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Helston-Lizard, Cornwall, UK.
Assists those in need of food who reside in the Stoughton Area School District.
A Prayer for Social Action

We cannot merely pray to God to end war;
For the world was made in such a way
That we must find our own path of peace
Within ourselves and with our neighbor.

We cannot merely pray to God to root out prejudice;
For we already have eyes
With which to see the good in all people
If we would only use them rightly.

We cannot merely pray to God to end starvation;
For we already have the resources
With which to feed the entire world
If we would only use them wisely.

We cannot merely pray to God to end despair;
For we already have the power
To clear away slums and to give hope
If we would only use our power justly.

We cannot merely pray to God to end disease:
For we already have great minds
With which to search out cures and healings
If we would only use them constructively.

Therefore we pray instead
For strength, determination, and will power,
To do instead of merely to pray
To become instead of merely to wish;
That our world may be safe,
And that our lives may be blessed.
